This trend was quite obvious at <em>SuperComputing&#8217;12<\/em> conference in Salt Lake City, USA, a world&#8217;s largest conference and exhibition on high-performance computing, network and storage.<\/p>\n<p>Together with CIENA, SURFNET and Felix International, CESNET association set up a networked 4K\u00a0video playback demonstration. CESNET showcased its GPU-accelerated JPEG2000 encoder as a data source for the network transmissions. The setup also demonstrated in real-world the interoperability of GPU JPEG2000 encoder with industry-strandard FPGA-accelerated solution developed by INTOPIX, which was used for playout of the video. While FPGA-accelerated solution is designed primarily for incorporation into dedicated hardware devices, the GPU accelerated solution is suitable for commodity server, workstations and even mobile laptop applications.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ces.net\/doc\/press\/2012\/pr121120.html\">http:\/\/www.ces.net\/doc\/press\/2012\/pr121120.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Salt Lake City.
