Collaborative Environments
This research brings together the technical knowledge of the SITOLA laboratory with the fields of psychology and communication studies. In our projects, we aim to reach a better understanding of what makes distributed collaboration so difficult, and try to uncover the psychological principles behind these problems. We then utilize this knowledge to create specialized collaborative environments that should lead to enhanced collaborative possibilities for virtual teams.
While our previous work was directed at creating a low-cost, but still effective group-to-group videoconferencing tool (see the GColl project for more details), we are currently moving in the direction of supplementing this (as well as other) videoconferencing tools with deictic information and workspace awareness functions. A more detailed information about these new projects should appear on this site during April 2010 at latest.
